Poland

We would like to thank people from Swiecie who organized our flights to Poland. It was such a blessing to come and visit friends and family after a long time. Last time we were in Poland over 3 years ago. Once again, thanks so much for this. We do pray that God will bless you in everything you do.
We had a fabulous time visiting schools and churches  sharing about the work in Kenya and preaching the word of God. We do believe that God touched some of people's  hearts who will be able to stand with us and support the projects of Light of the World Foundation. Thank you so much everyone for inviting us to your places and taking good care of 3 of us. Big thanks to Fotostopem przez Swiat who organized our time in Głogow. Also we would like to thank to Poland helps children in Kenya for all you have done for us and children of Kwademu. I can guaranty their happiness when we will take the gifts there. The list of thanking is big,  friends in Scotland who welcomed me and Hannah and your support- thank you so much, church in Edinburgh -thank you for opening your doors, Gimnazjum in Budzyn- thank you for invatation, schools in Krakow, Polkowice, Głogów -thank you for your hospitality and warm welcoming us. If there is someone whom we miss to see sorry about that but our time was limited. Let's hope for the next time. Everything is possible to our creator.
We reached home safety, there was not much disturbance during our flight. Hannah was fine and managed to have 2 naps on the plane. Now we are back in the field mission. The kids in the village are looking forward to see us and we are happy to go there this week.
Thanks again for everything and we would like to humbly asking you please keep us in your prayers. Wishing you a very lovely week.
Blessings

God's wonders

Hallo our friends

Please forgive us  for taking long to write but lately it has been busy time for us.
We give glory to God for his faithfulness, his plans and timing are always the best. Oh how happy we are, finally and officially we are working under Light of the World foundation. It took some time to put up all together but here we are not longer individual. God is good God.
Miraculously we met polish guy near  place where we stay in Mombasa. Sławek opened his heart for the kids in the village and next day bought building materials for putting up a shelter. We are so thankful for him and God of course allowing us to meet. Soon the kids will not be studying from under the tree.  Rainy season is about to start and the kids will have a roof  to protect them from getting wet. Is God not wonderful God? This is not all. He provided also for our tickets to fly to Poland, we had plan this trip for such a period of time and suddenly God opened the door for all of us. We shall be in Poland for more than 2 months, it will be great to reunion with our family there after 3 years not seeing one another. Let us sing praise to God for he is good and loving.
Bless you all for standing with us and following up.

New Year

Dear friends

Happy New Year to you all, we hope you enjoyed your festival season. Also us we had a good time. Taking this opportunity we would love to thank those of you who been praying for us and took time to send some Christmas gifts for children. Though it happened a bit later, was already after Christmas but it is better late than never.

We managed to prepare Christmas
meal for little ones and their parents, all children were happy that day.
The amount of food was so much that even parents carried to their homes. Nobody remained hungry at that very day. We wish we would be able to prepare meal for the kids every day but our budget is far away from what we need. However much we trust God for his love endures forever.

We are already at the end of the first month in this new year. Time is passing by so fast, by the time we all realize we will be in December 2015. Our prayer is that this year will be much fruitful to you no matter of which side of the world you are. We all are going to face new challenges and go through new experience, we pray for God's grace upon all of us to reach end of this year successfully watching our plans to come true.

The children are back to schools, though the academic year started a bit late
due to teachers strike. Taking a step of faith we started the school with few tables and benches. Our main need for now is building where the kids can study from. At the moment we are running the preeunit. Kids are coming every day. However Our space is limited because right now all the benches are filled
by the children.
Briefly to remind you, the village is located around 60 km from Mombasa, it is deep in the bush, far away from civilization. There is no clean water, no power, people live in the mad houses. Now we are in the dry season, so it is hard to get rainy water (during the rain people take their containers out for the water to fill in). That's why too we would love to drill the borehole. Lately we spent few days in the village, using the water from the swamp, After wards Mirka and Hannah got sick. Thanks to God for they are well now.

In that village there is one government school which gives almost free education (say almost because kids still have to pay for books, examines, etc). One class has up to 100 kids or more and only one teacher for class. It is hard to manage such number of children. Apart from that there were few small private schools where kids were studying either from under the tree in the open or in house of one of the teachers. Someone can say that these kids are used such life, they do not know other ways. It is true but is the blind man who was born blind not used to his situation? At the same time as much as he needs healing these kids they need change, they need light in their lives.
We would love to start building having four classes, room for teachers and toilets together with the borehole but at the moment we do not have any single coin for buying buildings materials, paying the labor, getting drilling done and others. Please as much as we need your prayers we need your financial support. Share with your friends, families and let us join together make impossible to be possible.

We also trust God for opening the door for us to travel to Poland. It took almost 3 years since we were there. Please also remember us in this area.
We know it is not easy, many people are asking for money today but we do pray God gives you wisdom and knowledge how to respond. Apostle Poul said ...”by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive”- Act 20;35. Unfortunately we are not able to pay you back but God will we can assure you. Please be open to Holy Spirit, let Him guide you in your decision. If you need more information from us

Have great year
Mirka and Henry Kalume

November

We thank you all for your prayers and support. We also give God glory for his protection, provision and good health. Even though we still have long way to go concerning the water project and school we do appreciate God for what he is doing. A journey of thousands miles begins with one step and not to despise  small beginning.
This month we received 2 visitors from Poland (Ania and Ela enjoyed the beach and coconut drink). They were here for one week and  we also went to visit the kids in the village. We designed some Christmas cards with some of the children, shared bread, sweets, clothes and balloons. We wished to spend more time there but time was  moving so fast and by the time we realized the week was over. The kids were on their Christmas holiday, but when they heard we were coming they came to spend time with us. Schools will begin in  January 2015.
Christmas is around the corner and some of you guys decided to send some small Christmas gifts for kids. We are looking forward to that event. In African culture  no such thing like Christmas gifts as it is in the western  In Africa, parents  who are able they buy new clothes for  kids and prepare rice with meat for Christmas day. Those who can afford buy also drinks like fanta, coca cola, mirinda, sprite etc.
If you are able to contribute to buy food, drinks, clothes for Christmas celebration will be highly appreciated.
We love you all.
"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you, will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" Php. 1;6

Henry's testimony for Neka

Hello Neka,

I salute you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, how are you, family and ministry? Hope all is well. I, family and ministry and doing good so far and much happy to hear from you.

We are in my village not in Timbwani. Its like 55-60km north - west from Mombasa island. Joseph is based in the south coast of Mombasa, he has his own curio shop outside in-front of a beach hotel. We communicate mostly on Facebook and he seems to busy guy traveling to Nairobi most often, as I write he is in Nairobi.

It was back before year 2000 when Neka and his Tongan team came to (Timbwani) Mombasa south, it was great to have them because they could come on the beach where I use to work as a beach boy and share the goodness of Christ in their lives. At first I was wondering what type of team it was because they use to come with rugby ball, guitar and they share about Christ. By then I had not heard of YWAM and how its missionaries work. So day after day they kept on sharing the love of Christ, I could not miss their teachings, though I was a Ganja smoker, cigaret, tried a bit of heroin, drinking alcohol having sex with holiday makers etc. They were planting a seed in my life of salvation and deliverance and introduced to me about YWAM not knowing that by year 2001 I would join them in YWAM for my DTS in Eldoret Kenya. I happened to meet one of the Tongan brothers who was still staffing. It was really a miracle for me because I never expected God to be so good to me and deliver me from all addictions.

The Tongan team commitment to Christ and the brotherly love really inspired me, the way they could come and present a song by playing the guitar or sometime they come and we play rugby with them on the beach. It was fun and made me to like being part of such a life style. Telling us their testimonies how they use to be before they met Christ ( one said back in Tonga they could go and steal pork and slaughter it and eat the meet and burn the bones, they would smoke and drink alcohol etc. ) and now they are change. It was really touching and amazing.

After my DTS I went back to Timbwani and I pastor-ed a church for 3 years and I went to Uganda and did my School of Biblical Studies. I staffed few SBS schools in Uganda and I did also Titus Project in Arusha Tanzania and staffed Titus Project in YWAM Muizenberg South Africa. My aim is to have a degree from YWAM in Biblical Studies. I met my wife when I was staffing SBS in Uganda, she is from Poland and we a blessed with 1 beautiful daughter. After marrying we moved to south west part of Uganda for 2 years and we were volunteer missionaries overseeing few local ministries and doing bible teaching. I am glad that my wife heard my bible teachings and developed the interest of doing bible school and now she has applied to do it in YWAM Uganda.

At the moment we have just come to my village and we are still visiting churches, schools, health centers and seeing where people get water for drinking. We have noticed the need of clean water, school and bible translation and printing it to local language. Please find attachment of photos of what is happening in the village at the moment.

May God bless you as you my brother Phil.4:19

Henry and Mirka.
